Lies are sweet in the beginning and Bitter in the end…

…and the Truth is Bitter in the beginning and Sweet in the end.

I recently saw a YouTube video on Gaslighting, and they said that telling lies was a form of gaslighting. This really caught my attention because I was lied to a lot as a child (but also as an adult), by my family.

If I remember these events, I feel very very angry, so need to be careful with what I think about and what I replay in my head.

For me I find this behavior VERY aggressive, particularly when it is done by a family member because it was done to me over and over and over.

The other one that triggers me a lot is passive aggressive behavior. There is someone I know who does this to perfection.

Yesterday I asked if we could make a time to catch up. She said: “if I’m awake, I will answer the call. If I’m asleep, I won’t answer.

She said nothing about what I actually asked for, which was a convenient time to catch up.

Funny enough I know this person really well and understand where the behavior comes from, so I understand why she does this.

What ends up happening is I end up blocking this person, so I don’t end up getting really angry, over and over.

I’m actually a very intelligent man……but because of my psychiatric disability I’m very isolated. Gavin.

  1. So true about truth and lies Gavin I really liks this quote. I am so sorry to hear you were lied to over and over that’s horrible. I can relate about this with family. You are very smart for blocking the passive aggressive person

  2. Gavin, you described it perfectly. I was taught to stop saying over and over to myself in my head that it wasn’t fair(all that happened), because it would only keep me angry and who needs that emotion? It just increases my blood pressure. But man, do I know. I feel I’ve had this impossible life and I have been tested more times than I can take, but, then I say to myself that there are babies who have been murdered by abusive(often uneducated and unsupported), parents. I really have to be my own therapist at times like that. I was born into middle class family, but, as good family died and bad family remained I found my life destroyed over time. I too consider myself intelligent yet isolated and even poor, bye bye middle class. Most people who knew me don’t believe it. The ones who did ended up abandoning me for the most part because they couldn’t handle it. I don’t know how things are out your way, but, here in the US many of us aren’t happy and we choose to stay indoors anyway. Times are bad and crime has increased and I find people to be argumentative in general. So just like you, I choose to sometimes read , write, and comment.

  3. Blocking toxic behavior and trigering material is the best thing you can do for your mental health. You are very intelligent and you’ve learned from surviving the worst and continuing to put one foot in front of another every day.
